Marriott Destinations Points – Where are you in the pecking order?

Jul 18, 2010 | Timeshare Talk | 0 comments

As in any class system, there are those that have priority over others. In the Marriott Destinations points system there are 3 classes of members:
Premier Plus – owners with weeks that equate to 13,000+ points
Premier – owners with weeks that equate to 6500-12,999 points
Enrolled – owners with weeks that equate to less than 6,500 points (this is me!)
Premier Plus owners can book 13 months in advance at their desired property for any number of days.Premier owners can book 13 months in advance at their desired property for a minimum 7-night stay only. They can book 10 months out for stays less than 7 nights.

Enrolled owners can book 12 months in advance for weekly stays and 10 months out for less than 7 days.

If your desired week is not available you are able to place a request and be placed on a wait list. The request will be satisfied on a first-in, first-out basis and since Premier Plus and Premier members can request further out than non-Premier members, they will be first-in and therefore at the top of the wait list. Once all of the requests of the Premier Plus and Premier members have been satisfied then the Enrolled members will move up the wait list.

With my Kauai Beach Club and Boston Custom House weeks, currently I can book 13 months in advance of my desired dates by booking my weeks consecutively or concurrently. If I were to turn my weeks into Destination points, I would be just an Enrolled member and therefore only able to book 12 months in advance thus losing the benefit of being a multiple week owner.

Knowing how many points your combined weeks are worth is important so that you know where you sit in the Destination Points pecking order. You can be sure that if you want to climb up the class ladder, Marriott Vacation Club will gladly sell you more points.
