Spring in Japan with Pam, 2018February 5, 2017
Join me in Japan next spring! If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing this country’s gilded temples and glittering skyscrapers, there is no better time than spring, when the cherry blossoms burst into bloom. I’ll be hosting a group of 12 on Tauck Tours’ Essence of Japan trip April 8–20, 2018.
Starting in Tokyo, we’ll join Tauck’s group of 24 for a sightseeing tour in Japan’s incredible capital city. From there, we’ll hop the bullet train to the city of Odawara and the hot springs resort town of Hakone, known for its open-air sculpture park. Then we head north into the “Japanese Alps,” through winding valleys dotted with rice farms, lakes, rushing rivers and small villages. In this region, we’ll see the city of Takayama, famed for its artisans, woodworkers and sake, which we’ll taste and learn how to make at a local brewery. On a four-night stay in Kyoto, we’ll delve deeper into Japanese culture, exploring castles, temples and shrines, and visiting a private home for a tea ceremony and Origami lessons.
This is a fantastic itinerary with a perfect balance of free time and scheduled activities that give a taste of Japanese culture. We’ll wander magical landscaped gardens, learn about the ancient traditions of the Samurai, see a Sumo wrestling match, meet a geisha expert and take in some Shinto music, among others.
I can’t wait to see you on this trip of a lifetime! Pricing hasn’t been released yet, but the 2017 tour was $13,290 per person, and we expect 2018 to be similar. Only 8 spots are left, so get in touch soon to put down your $1,200 reservation deposit. Email Pam@TheArtofVacationing.com or call 480-629-5559.
