Active and Awe-Inspiring Costa Rica with Pam, April 2021 (Sold Out)
Next spring (April 14–24, 2021), we’re headed to paradise! Well, practically: Costa Rica is one of the greenest destinations in the world, home to some of the most pristine forests, beaches, waterfalls and natural hot springs in existence – not to mention 5% of the earth’s wildlife. Divided down its center by a chain of volcanoes, the country is remarkably different from region to region, and coast to coast. It offers the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, culture and cuisine.
The Itinerary: Capital City to Cloud Forest
Starting in San José, we’ll explore the rich history, culture and architecture of the capital, before heading north into the cloud forest. Using the luxurious El Silencio Lodge as our base, we’ll spend three days hiking on magical trails, visiting waterfalls, horseback riding and soaking up the incredible jungle setting.
Hot Springs and High Adventure
Next, we’re off to La Fortuna, where natural hot springs steam and burble non-stop, thanks to the heating power of Arenal Volcano. From our base at Tabacon Hot Springs and Resort, we’ll have opportunities to go river rafting, ziplining, hiking and (of course!) hot-spring soaking – or even tour a local pineapple plantation. Keep your eyes peeled for toucans, howler monkeys and capuchins in the treetops!
Pacific Coast Beach Time
Heading west, we’ll arrive at the lavish Mangroove Beach Hotel for three nights in Guanacaste province – known for its pristine shoreline, beautiful mountain ranges and stunning golden sunsets. This is our final stop, and we’ll make the most of it, with a crocodile-spotting riverboat ride, a rum tour and plenty of free time for relaxing on the sun-kissed waterfront.
